Countdown to Christmas
There are two camps when it comes to Christmas. Those who are delighted at their first sighting of advent calendars, Christmas wrapping and festive decorations appearing in the shops and those who bemoan the ever earlier ‘start’ of Christmas.
For us woking in hotels, it comes as a relief when the shops roll out their displays and scatter their shelves with Christmas goodies, as then we do not feel quite as bad about talking to our guests about Christmas. It is not just us anymore. Everyone else is getting festive as well!
Upon decorating our life-size gingerbread house in September, guests passing through the lobby questioned if we were seriously putting up Christmas decorations and stating that it was definitely too early for such things!
As an outsider I would tend to have been right there with them. In hospitality, it’s a totally different situation. Christmas Day is almost full, our Christmas Party Nights are filling up fast and December is scattered with private festive celebrations.
Our Festive Taster Evening in September witnessed our senior management team adorning a Christmas tree and a full taster menu including a roast turkey and all the trimmings presented by our chefs.
Now that the winter nights are drawing in, the roads are strewn with amber leaves and the winter coats have been pulled from the back of the cupboard for the crisp mornings have you decided what your Christmas plans are this year?
If you still haven't decided on your plans for the New Year, why not spend Hogmanay with us in Edinburgh!
